The design industry requires students that are capable of designing and developing a well considered product that can be commercially successful. The designer needs to possess skills of creativity and innovation, an ability to problem solve and to address social, functional and economic factors of their product within the marketplace. By the end of a designers training he (or she!) will have developed an understanding of both aesthetic and contextual issues that arise during the design process. A designer is a professional person and as such is expected to embark on the continuation of their professional skills throughout their career.
